Expansive views, coastal conditions with prevailing winds and exposure to two streets required a carefully considered solution. The resultant dwelling has proportions respectful of its neighbours, well-articulated interior relationships and materials that will endure in the challenging environment. The house presents well to both streets and offers a sheltered internal courtyard as a respite from the cool sea breezes. [NZIA citation]
